Characteristics of environmental and urban areas course

It trains technicians supporting dynamic cities that are resistant to hazards whilst protecting the earth's environment and the local environment. It has the following characteristics.

  1. Varied curriculum thought to be needed in order to construct cities which are resilient against catastrophes and kind to the environment
  2. Wide ranging places of employment such as national, prefectural and city offices (public servant), road/rail companies, electric/gas/communications companies, consultancy companies, construction companies, etc. making use of the things learnt (the strength of over 100 years' history)
  3. Valuable qualification in construction: fast-track for attaining important qualifications such as in engineering (construction, water and sewer services), registered surveyor, construction management engineers (it's been certified by JABEE and the standard as an engineer has been internationally guaranteed).

【Explanation of road space maintenance in Table 1】

Management of the road is conducted by the road maintenance team or road construction team mainly if they are prefectural roads. Business includes all city's road planning, construction, maintenance repairs, measures against accidents, measures for congestion, opinion survey, roadside environmental measures, etc. These businesses are implemented in collaboration with planning design companies (consultant companies), construction companies, university research facilities, etc. Many graduates are involved in related work including the city office.

Note 1) Public facilities such as pavement / road / park / underground rails, etc. are planned, managed and operated by administration (country, prefecture, city office, etc.).

Note 2) National qualifications governing the architecture in this photo include civil engineering management technician as well as technicians (construction department). These architectural buildings cannot be made with an architect's qualification. The qualification of an engineer (construction department) covers a wide range including{soil quality and foundation, steel construction and concrete, city and regional planning, river, sand banks and erosion control and coast / sea, ports and airports, power civil engineering, road / road planning, rail / rail planning, tunnel, construction environment). In the construction business and construction consultant business, there is particularly high evaluation in respect of technicians and it is the most common, with around a half of those in the 12 subjects holding the qualification.

Even just in the Tokai area there are rails and bridges amounting to more than 2400km, maintenance management and operation of more than 700 station terminal facilities. (Rail distance of 2400 km is quite a distance even relative to the longitudinal distance of Japan of 3000km or the distance between Nagoya and Osaka of 200km). ・Country
